Summary

In Lucknow, Ansal Properties & Infrastructure Ltd.(API) launched a project by the name of 'Sushant Golf City" located in Pocket 7 of Sector C in 2006. They also put out an advertisement claiming that 700 flats would be built for Economically Weaker Section families as part of the project, as per the UP government's rules mandating developers to earmark a certain number of flats for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) families.  Following the advertisement, 639 families applied for flats. The allottees were assured that they will get possession in three years. But the allottees have been waiting for the last 8 years and the possession has still not been given. At the same time, the allottees were frequenting the developer's office for registration of their flats, only to be put off again and again. In 2016, the allottees also approached the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) to register a complaint. But there was no investigation by the LDA. With renewed hope after the state government's fresh, strict directives against builder's arbitrary behavior, the allottees have again approached the LDA with their plea. LDA Vice Chairman, PN Singh assured action against Ansal API and justice to the allottees. Ansal API had similarly delayed the allotment to 5500 of its homebuyers at well. Ansal API during registering the project with RERA mentioned 2023 as the year of project completion. As many as 24 criminal cases have been lodged against the group at different police stations of Lucknow since 2017. In 2019, in a fresh FIR was registered in Lucknow against Ansal API Group, over a case of alleged fraud and criminal breach of trust. In this matter, Uttar Pradesh Minister Swati Singh asked the Cantonment police circle officer to quash the case. The minister was fired and in September 2019, Pranav Ansal (founding member of the Ansal API) was arrested by the Lucknow police over alleged "fraud and criminal breach of trust".
