In eviction-related land conflicts, the top demands are legal recognition of land rights and retaining access to common land. Rehabilitation appeals and complaints against procedural breaches are frequent as well.
Further labelling of these communities as 'encroachers' perpetuates stigmatisation, fueled by government and media narratives. The trend of employing police force and evicting without prior notice points to a disturbing pattern of inhumane evictions.
